Skill 16. Supporting Others

imageEvery United States Armed Forces soldier pledges, in his Soldiers Creed, to “Never leave a fallen comrade.” This statement is the ultimate statement of support and dedication to a fellow warrior.

Support can be defined as encouragement and assistance to others. You can communicate your support to those you are committed to in both word and deed.

You can communicate your support to others with verbal statements:
“I’m here for you.”
“I’ll give whatever help you need.”
“You can depend on me.”
“I”ll help you face this challenge.”
“I believe in you.”
And the big one—“I do.”

You can communicate your support to others with your actions:
Keeping your promises,
Listening to them without judgment,
Being punctual,
Giving them your time,
Treating them to coffee,
Driving them to the airport, and
Carrying them from battle.

Now return to the world and be on the lookout for ways to communicate your support in word and deed. You can do this, brother. You’re a good man…

Skill: SUPPORT OTHERS.

Strength and honor.
